Inspect[ | ]

A bizarre contraption stands before you. It looks like a windmill, but it seems way too small to be used as such. Maybe a kind of altar? A giant skeleton is gripped onto the broken sails, frozen in what may be an attempt to prevent them from moving, or on the contrary, to help them move. The structure is in poor shape. It seems long abandoned. And yet, you're under the strange impression that times flows slower around it. It's almost still. You notice a carving in a wooden pane at the base of the structure. It looks like a rune.

Investigate rune[ | ]

Relevant Skills: Wisdom You have the feeling this is an old symbol you've already seen many, many times.

  • Try to remember (Wisdom)
Failure
And yet, you can't name it. What if it was in fact two runes? Or a crude depiction of a chain?
+ Depression Depression
Success
You think this rune is the oldest version of the Ár rune. This is JERA, rune of good years of harvest and thriving crops. It serves as a reminder that all things run in natural cycles. Those cycles are powerful, as they serve to balance destruction and creation. It ask of us to be aware of the cycles within and around us.
+ Wisdom Experience

Manipulate the skeleton[ | ]

Relevant Skills: Strength

Whoever it was, this person now almost looks like a part of a grotesque sculpture.

  • Poke the skeleton
It doesn't react. Which is probably for the best, now you think about it. Did you expect it to poke you back? The silliness of the situation makes you feel a bit down.
+ Depression Depression
  • Remove the skeleton
You grab the skeleton's arms and try to make it release the sails.
  • Use your muscles (Strength)
Failure
Despite its frail appearance, the skeleton is sturdier than stone. You push and pull hard, but it doesn't move by an inch.
+Fatigue Fatigue
Success
The skeleton doesn't move... But the sails do, very lightly. You don't think it's possible to remove the skeleton, but this gives you an idea. Maybe you could hang onto the other side of the mill, and make the sails turn in reverse?

Probe the Windmill[ | ]

Relevant Skills: Agility, Crafting

Maybe there is something you haven't thought of yet...

  • Unblock the sails
You slip your hands between the cogs behind the hub, hoping to make the wheel turn again.
  • Search for a loose part (Agility)
Failure
You shriek in pain and remove your hands as quickly as possible as some invisible piece starts to crush your fingers.
+ Injury Injury
Success
After a few minutes of feeling around, something moves. You hear a click. However, the sails are ridiculously small and broken, and the skeleton still prevents them from turning. Maybe you could fix them, make them longer, so they could get more traction?
  • Repair the sails
You gather some materials found around the windmill. It's up to you to do your best and fix the broken sails.
  • Start the repairs (Crafting)
Failure
Sadly, you have no idea of what you're doing, and fail miserably to come up with decent repairs. You even hurt yourself in the process.
+ Depression Depression
+ Injury Injury
Success
Your repairs don't really enhance the look of the windmill, but they look solid enough to do the trick. In fact, you're pretty happy with the result!
+ The survivor gains the positive trait Special Trait IconBuilder permanently.

Mimick the Skeleton's Pose[ | ]

Relevant Skills: Strength

You grab a sail at the opposite of the skeleton and pull it toward the ground.

  • Try to rotate the sails
The wheel may turn if you manage to apply enough strength, you can feel it.
  • Pull down (Strength)
Failure
No matter how hard you pull, that's not enough. And the skeleton's grinning at you.
+Fatigue Fatigue
+ Depression Depression
Success
You pull the sail down with all your weight. Slowly, very slowly, it starts moving. The skeleton's joints grind as they start to bend. Finally, they break, and its bones scatter on the ground. They may be useful in the future.
+ Bones Bones
The sails are free again. The wheel is turning. The cycle has restarted. You feel a strange relief.
- Depression Depression
What to do but wait? So, you wait. Minutes pass. Or maybe years. The structure turns to dust. You watch a flower grow. Finally, it blooms, revealing a small metallic sphere. When you take it, it feels warm in your hand.
+ Orichalcum Bead Orichalcum Bead Sage Powder Sage Powder
