Description[ | ]

If we really want to settle here, breeding sheep could be a good way to have a steady supply of food and wool. However, first we must catch a wild sheep.

Details[ | ]

Sheep Pens display

The Pens display panel. The first two sheep from the left are Adult sheep, the middle two are Lambs, and the last two are Old sheep. Important information is also found along the bottom: your current breeding chances, your stores of Milk and Cheese, and most importantly how much sheep feed you have, and your stores of non-potable water and wheat

  • Grants 3 pens to store Sheep
  • Enables Beast Handling activity for 1 character.
  • Enables the crafting of Cheese

For each Sheep in the Pens, the assigned character will execute the following actions:

     - Shear the sheep if it's Wool meter is 80% or above

     - Milk the sheep if it's Milk meter is 80% or above

     - Heal the sheep if it's Health meter is less than 100%

Sheeps also need to eat every night to stay healthy, so make sure there is enough food for each of them! To craft sheep food, you need 1 Wheat and 1 unit of non-potable water. In the Pens window, click the arrow found beside the non-potable water icon, along the bottom right, to craft 1 unit of Sheep Food. Note that Sheep Food is not an inventory item. To see how much you have available, you must look in the Pens window.

Breeding[ | ]

Breeding your sheep is an easy process. To breed sheep, you only need an unoccupied pen. While this alone is enough, you can increase your chances of breeding by having 1 or more Adult or Old sheep with more than 50% Health.

The breeding chances are as follows:

  • 10% with 0 Adult or Old sheep
  • 20% with 1 Adult or Old sheep
  • 40% with 2 Adult or Old sheep

Breeding will decrease the health of a random sheep by 20 to 30, so make sure to tend to your sheep after a successful breeding to keep them healthy.

Dialogue Upon Completion[ | ]

This dialogue occurs the night after the Garden has been completed.

Eirik-Dialogue-Tag

I'm glad we built these pens. If we manage to catch some sheep, we'll be able to breed them.

Blod-Dialogue-Tag

It's a long process, but that would mean a steady source of food.

Moira-Dialogue-Tag

We'll have to butcher these poor little guys? Too sad.

Kari-Dialogue-Tag

Think about their fresh, grilled meat on your plate... Yum yum.

Blod-Dialogue-Tag

They also provide for milk and wool. We can weave wool into fabric, and turn milk to cheese. It's yummy too.

Moira-Dialogue-Tag

Don't forget though, the poor beasts need to be sheared when they are covered in wool. If you wait for too long, their health will start to degrade.

Eirik-Dialogue-Tag

We'll need to feed them well too. Wheat and water should be enough.

Blod-Dialogue-Tag

It's a lot of work, but it's a big step forward if we want to settle here for good. We can't rely only on fishing and hunting... It's not reliable enough.

Kari-Dialogue-Tag

(I don’t see myself milking stupid sheep for the rest of my life... I'll have to find a way to keep on hunting...)
