Touch the ice[ | ]

Relevant Skills: Strength, Constitution

Just staying close to the ice makes you shiver. You extend your hand and touch the ice. The cold burns your skin a bit, but nothing unexpected. What's unexpected though is the behavior of the ice. Where your hand is placed, a little smoke rises. But that's not what surprises you. The ice seems to melt from the drinking horn, slowly, starting from the top of the ice block and following a spiral... On the other hand, the air around your feet grows colder. A blueish mist forms and starts crystallizing on your shoes.

Remove your hand.
When you remove your hand, the ice grows back on the horn, way faster than it receded. No change on the frost forming on your feet. You swiftly shake your feet to free yourself from the nascent ice. It was still forming so you don't have trouble with breaking it. (nothing happens, can retry)
Get your feet out.

Wait and assess the situation.
The ice keeps slowly recoiling from the top of the small iceberg. And it keeps growing on your legs. You're starting to lose any feeling in your toes. You may be curious about how far the melting can go, but you're going to catch a cold if this continues... or worse.

Stay Still (Constitution) (Tinder Tinder needed)
Failure
It takes a great deal of willpower but you bear with the cold... until you can't feel your feet AT ALL any more. No, you can't stay like this. You're going to lose limbs if you stay there. As panic builds up, you remove your hand from the iceberg. When you remove your hand, the ice grows back on the horn, way faster than it receded. No change on the ice covering your legs. You should get out of the ice before you catch a cold. You try to move around to get out of the ice but you are stuck. You have to use your weapon to break the ice and free your cold feet. You remove your shoes and check the damage done by the cold.
A lot of chillblains. Damn! If you stayed a little longer, you could have lost your feet, entirely!

It takes a great deal of willpower but you bear with the cold growing on your lower half. You keep your hand on the ice. It keeps progressing slowly but surely. You're now trapped in ice up to your hips, and you're starting to have a runny nose. But on a good note, part of the drinking horn is now revealed. You could grab it and try to extract it from the ice.
The participating survivor gains the disease Disease icon Sneezing (2 days) temporarily.
Extract the Horn (Strength)
Success
No time to wait, you gather all the strength you have left to extract the horn from its ice coffin. In response, the ice on you grows faster. But you're stronger than the iceberg. The horn eventually breaks free... only to shatter between your fingers. A golden bead falls off. You will have to be content with that. You were hoping the horn would remove whatever magic spell was cast and free you from this mire but nothing happened: you're still trapped. It's a matter of survival now. You use the horn as a pickaxe and try to free yourself with whatever last strength you have. It takes some time and a GREAT deal of effort but you manage to get yourself free. You collapse from exhaustion, a smile on your face.

Stay Still (Constitution)
Success
It takes a great deal of willpower but you bear with the cold growing on your body. You keep your hand on the ice. It keeps progressing slowly, but surely. You're now trapped in the ice up to your bust, and you're all shivering, numb from the cold. However, your patience has paid off: the horn is completely freed from the ice coffin, ready for the taking. It takes some efforts to move your arms but you grab the horn. It strangely feels warm in your hands. Maybe something valuable is inside? You insert one hand in the horn. Your hand is too big and the horn too weakened by the cold. It breaks revealing its content: a golden bead and a warm crystal. You're still trapped in the ice though. You feel numb but not cold anymore. It's strange. You rub the stone on the ice and it slowly melts. It takes some time and a GREAT deal of effort to free yourself using the warmth of the crystal. But you did it. You will have a nasty cold though.
